Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman may finally be ready to sit in the same room again.
The former spouses, who split in 2001 after 11 years of marriage, have reportedly been having “positive conversations” after decades of distance. Sources claim the two are now planning a private reunion with their adopted children, Bella, 33, and Connor, 31.
The reason behind the thaw is tragic. Reports say the December 2025 murders of their longtime friends Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner pushed Cruise and Kidman to reconnect after years of almost no contact.
The meeting would mark a major shift for the exes, whose post-divorce relationship has long been defined by silence, religious tension, and emotional distance.
The Reiner Tragedy Reportedly Brought Them Back Into Contact
Cruise and Kidman reportedly knew Rob and Michele Reiner during the earliest days of their own relationship. “Tom met Nicole around the same time Rob and Michele became a couple, and their relationships followed a similar arc,” one insider claimed.
Both couples reportedly started dating in 1989. Reiner met photographer Michele Singer while directing ‘When Harry Met Sally,’ while Cruise and Kidman met while filming ‘Days Of Thunder.’
After the Reiners were killed in December, allegedly by their son Nick, sources claim Cruise and Kidman began speaking again as they processed the loss.
“They have been reminiscing about how close they were to them when they were a young couple,” one insider said, adding that the couples once went on double dates.
Nicole Reportedly Wants To Reconnect With Bella And Connor
The reunion is also said to be centered on Bella and Connor, the children Cruise and Kidman adopted during their marriage.
After the divorce, both children lived primarily with Cruise and were raised within the Church of Scientology. Kidman has spoken carefully about their choices over the years. “They are able to make their own choices,” Kidman previously said. “They have made choices to be Scientologists, and, as a mother, it’s my job to love them.”
Sources claim Kidman has wanted to make time for Bella and Connor for months, especially after finalizing her divorce from Keith Urban in January 2026. “Nicole knows her kids are really looking forward to having their parents in the same room again, so she’s determined to follow through,” an insider said.

Sources say it will be a quiet family dinner, possibly in London or Florida. The goal is reportedly to create a calm environment where Cruise, Kidman, Bella, and Connor can simply be together.

Cruise is also reportedly looking for a “clean slate” as he enters a new chapter. His rumored romance with Ana de Armas faded last summer, while Kidman is newly single after her split from Urban.
