Megan Thee Stallion and Klay Thompson’s romance went from courtside cute to messy breakup in less than a year.
The rapper and the NBA star were first linked in summer 2025, after fans spotted what looked like Thompson in the background of one of Megan’s poolside Instagram photos. A few days later, Thompson added fuel by posting a kissing photo with a woman who looked like Megan from behind.
By mid-July, they were official. By April 2026, it was over.
The split became public after Megan accused Thompson of cheating in a blunt Instagram Story, then confirmed the breakup in a statement. For fans who had watched her enter her WAG era, the ending came fast.
July 2025: The Romance Went Public Fast
Megan and Thompson made their red-carpet debut on July 16, 2025, at the inaugural Pete & Thomas Foundation gala in New York City. The organization, founded by Megan and named after her parents, provides resources for women, children, senior citizens and underserved communities.
The couple matched in black-tie looks. Megan wore a black Off-White halter gown with a keyhole cutout and beaded wrap-style belt detail. Thompson wore a black Tom Ford tuxedo.
On the carpet, Megan teased their first meeting.
“Oh, we met and it was such a meet cute it was like a movie,” she said. “I won’t tell you how and I won’t tell you when, but it was a movie.”
She also called Thompson “the nicest person I’ve ever met in my life.”
Days later, on July 19, Megan made things Instagram official with a since-deleted video from their outing and a clip of them golfing together.
Fall 2025: Megan Entered Her WAG Era
By October, Megan was showing up for Thompson at Dallas Mavericks games.
On October 15, she attended a preseason game between the Mavericks and the Los Angeles Lakers. Dallas won 121-94.
Later that month, fans wondered whether the couple had moved in together after Megan shared a photo dump showing the pair making heart hands in front of a new home while holding keys.
In November, the public relationship got even louder. Megan sat courtside as the Mavericks played the Lakers, wearing a black DSquared2 tee, jeans, orange lace-up boots and a limited-edition Hermès handbag.
Then, on November 30, Thompson revealed he had named his new boat after her: SS Stallion.
February 2026: Megan Hinted At Engagement Hopes
In one of her YouTube vlogs on February 23, Megan congratulated Olympians Brittany Bowe and Hilary Knight on their engagement, then hinted at her own hopes.
“Manifesting my engagement, too,” she said, crossing her fingers.
At that point, the relationship still looked serious from the outside.
April 2026: Cheating Claim Ends The Relationship
The tone changed sharply in April.
Megan posted an Instagram Story accusing Thompson of cheating and questioning his commitment.
“Cheating, had me around your whole family playing house…got ‘cold feet,’” she wrote. “Holding you down through all your HORRIBLE mood swings and treatment towards me during your basketball season now you don’t know if you can be ‘monogamous’???? I need a REAL break after this one .. bye yall.”
She later confirmed the split.
“I’ve made the decision to end my relationship with Klay,” Megan said. “Trust, fidelity and respect are non-negotiable for me in a relationship, and when those values are compromised, there’s no real path forward.”
She added that she is taking time to prioritize herself and move forward “with peace and clarity.”
The relationship started with soft launches, red carpets and courtside dates. It ended with Megan making one thing very clear: she was not staying where trust was broken.
