Alysa Liu may have just lined up one of the most unexpected post-Olympics crossovers of the year, and fans are already acting like this thing is guaranteed chaos in the best way.
Fresh off her gold medal run at the 2026 Milan Winter Games, the 20-year-old figure skating star is reportedly heading into music video territory for Laufey’s ‘Madwoman’, with KATSEYE’s Megan Skiendiel and ‘The Summer I Turned Pretty’ actress Lola Tung also said to be part of the lineup. Nothing about that combo feels random, and that is exactly why people are losing it.

Liu has already built a real connection to Laufey’s music. She choreographed her short program to ‘Promise’, a track from Laufey’s second studio album ‘Bewitched’, and fans have long treated the pairing as a rare pop culture match that actually makes sense. So this does not feel like a stunt. It feels like something the internet had already half-manifested.

Alysa Liu and Laufey Are Already Giving Fans Plenty to Work With
The excitement really kicked up after Laufey and Liu posted a joint Instagram video on Tuesday, April 7. In it, the two appeared wearing retro mini dresses, knee-high boots, and matching headscarves in their own color palettes. Liu wore retro orange while Laufey went with cream, and together they recreated the dance Liu first broke out during the Olympic exhibition gala when she skated to ‘Stateside’ by PinkPantheress featuring Zara Larsson.
That alone would have been enough to get fans talking. But then another post on TikTok appeared to confirm Liu’s involvement in a ‘Madwoman’ music video, with Megan also tied to the project. By Thursday, the chatter got even louder when Lola Tung’s name entered the mix too.

The breadcrumbs were not exactly subtle. The TikTok caption referenced ‘Madwoman’ cast reveals, and Liu only added to the frenzy when she reposted the update to her story with, “Madwoman let’s gooo.”
Fans, naturally, lost whatever chill they had left. “This music video is gonna be INSANEE I’m so excited,” one wrote. Another added, “Omg this is gonna be so peak.” A third summed up the mood best: “THIS IS AN INSANE LINEUP ?!?!?!”

Why This Collab Feels Bigger Than a Random Cameo
Part of the reason the reaction is so intense is that Liu and Laufey already have a sweet little history that fans are deeply invested in. Last October, Liu attended Laufey’s San Francisco concert, where the singer honored her as the “best dressed guest” after Liu showed up wearing her short program costume and the gold medal she won at the World Championships in Boston earlier that year.
Laufey told the crowd, “Our special best-dressed guest tonight is the incredible Alysa Liu. You guys, she’s like the best figure skater in the world.” She went on, “She did a program to ‘Promise’ and won the World Championships, which is insane.”
Liu, clearly thrilled, told the audience, “I’m so excited to be here. I skated to ‘Promise’ in my short program last year and I think I’m going to do it again this year. So, ayyy!” That prompted Laufey to reply, “This is me finding out in real time. Really?! Oh, yay!”

That mutual fangirl energy has now rolled into something much bigger. If Liu really is making her music video debut in ‘Madwoman’, this is not just a cute cameo. It is a crossover built for people who live online and love watching different fandoms crash into each other.
And with ‘A Matter of Time: The Final Hour’ due out April 10, the rollout is clearly doing its job.
