Kim Kardashian has shared new photos of the four Pomeranian puppies she recently gave to her children, weeks after animal rights activists criticized the decision.
The reality television star posted the images on Instagram on March 6 with the caption “Welcome to the fam.” The photos show the small dogs together, including two with darker coats, one cream-colored puppy and another with sable fur.
Kardashian first introduced the puppies on social media during the holiday season, explaining that each of her four children received a dog as a Christmas gift. She shares her children North, Saint, Chicago and Psalm with her former husband Kanye West.
In January, Kardashian also posted videos of the children interacting with the new pets. One clip showed a puppy licking her hand while a child reacted excitedly off camera. Another video featured her daughter Chicago playing with one of the dogs while Psalm watched nearby.
The decision drew criticism from People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA). Founder Ingrid Newkirk said at the time that public figures have an opportunity to promote animal adoption and encourage people to consider pets from shelters.
“Puppies are not plushies,” Newkirk said in a statement, suggesting that Kardashian could have used her platform to highlight adoption instead of purchasing dogs.
Newkirk also encouraged Kardashian and her sister Khloé Kardashian to consider supporting animal shelters or adoption programs in the future.
Kardashian has not publicly responded to the criticism but continues to share updates about the puppies and her children’s time with them.
The family already owns several pets, including other Pomeranians and a bearded dragon named Speed.
