Metallica has expanded its upcoming residency at the Las Vegas Sphere, adding 16 more performances and bringing the total number of shows to 24.

The rock band initially announced an eight-night run titled “Life Burns Faster” scheduled for October 2026. Following strong demand from fans, Metallica confirmed that additional dates have now been added to the residency.

“This is it—we’re taking ‘Life Burns Faster’ to the max,” the band said in a statement on its website while announcing the expanded schedule.

The residency will begin with opening shows on Oct. 1 and Oct. 3, with performances continuing throughout the month.

Metallica said the concerts will follow the band’s well-known “No Repeat Weekend” format. Under that structure, each Thursday and Saturday show during a given weekend will feature completely different setlists, meaning fans attending both performances will not hear the same songs twice.

The Las Vegas Sphere, known for its immersive LED display, advanced sound system and visual effects, will serve as the backdrop for the residency. The venue’s technology allows for large-scale visual storytelling designed to complement live performances.

Drummer Lars Ulrich said the band became interested in the venue after seeing U2’s debut shows at the Sphere in 2023.

“Twelve seconds into U2’s Sphere show, I knew we had to do this,” Ulrich said. “It’s completely unexplored territory.”

Metallica said the Sphere concerts will span music from across the band’s catalog while using the venue’s technology to create a new kind of live experience.

The residency is scheduled to take place roughly six months from now, with tickets expected to draw strong interest from fans traveling to Las Vegas for the shows.
