Brad Pitt is reportedly upset over remarks Angelina Jolie made during a recent interview, with sources claiming the comments struck a particularly sensitive chord.
The former couple, who separated in 2016, have remained locked in a series of legal disputes for years. With another court battle expected in the coming months, tensions between the two are said to remain high.
During a promotional interview for her latest project, Jolie reflected on her experience raising children without the presence of a grandmother after the death of her mother, Marcheline Bertrand, in 2007.
According to sources who spoke with Closer Magazine, Pitt interpreted the comments as a painful reminder of his own recent loss. His mother, Jane Pitt, died last summer at the age of 84.
One source claimed Pitt felt the remarks were particularly difficult to hear while he is still grieving.
“It’s touching on an incredibly sensitive issue for Brad,” the insider said. “His mother’s passing was only months ago, and he’s still dealing with that loss.”
The source added that Pitt has long been protective of his mother and remains deeply affected by her absence.
Before Jane Pitt’s death, reports suggested she had not seen her grandchildren in several years. Earlier in the family’s history, she was said to have been more actively involved in their lives before Pitt and Jolie separated.
The insider also alleged that Pitt has been troubled by what he sees as distance between the children and extended family members.
However, sources close to Jolie reject the idea that her comments were meant as a personal dig.
One person familiar with her perspective noted that geographical distance has played a role, pointing out that the families have lived far apart since the split.
They also said that arranging time with extended relatives would typically fall during Pitt’s custody periods.
For now, the long-running dispute between the former couple appears far from resolved as legal proceedings continue.
