Rachel Lindsay is pushing back against claims made by her ex-husband Bryan Abasolo, accusing him of misrepresenting her fertility struggles in a recent interview.
The former Bachelorette star addressed the controversy during a recent episode of the Bachelor Happy Hour podcast, responding to comments Abasolo made while speaking with divorce coach Rene Garcia.
During that interview, Abasolo suggested that priorities within their relationship had prevented the couple from starting a family. He also referenced Lindsay’s biological clock and the pressure he said he felt while navigating the situation.
“Women have a different biological clock than us,” Abasolo said in the conversation, adding that he felt significant stress as expectations around their plans for children grew.
He also described feeling emotional while watching Lindsay struggle with the situation.
“Watching her sadness broke my heart,” he said. “I felt like I was failing to meet expectations on all fronts.”
Lindsay, however, says his portrayal of events does not reflect the full truth of what happened during their marriage.
“He mentioned things in that interview that I had never even discussed with him personally,” she said on the podcast. “He talks about fertility, but what he said wasn’t even accurate.”
According to Lindsay, while she had expressed a desire to have children, the details surrounding their attempts to start a family were never something she publicly shared.
“Other than saying I wanted to have kids, I’ve never discussed that publicly,” she said. “No one knows the full story.”
The reality television personality also revealed that she and Abasolo had been actively working on their relationship before the marriage ended. She said the couple attended therapy together and tried to address their issues privately.
“We were working on it. We tried. We went to therapy. We were trying to resolve our issues,” Lindsay explained.
She emphasized that she intentionally kept many of those details out of the public eye while they were still trying to repair their relationship.
“I don’t think sharing those intimate details with the public would have helped us at that time,” she said. “I wasn’t being fake. I’m living my life, but I’m not obligated to share every single detail about it.”
Lindsay and Abasolo married in 2019 after meeting on The Bachelorette. Their relationship was widely followed by fans of the franchise.
The couple ultimately ended their marriage in January 2024 after four years together.
