Brad Pitt’s eldest son, Maddox, is no longer using his father’s last name publicly.
The 24-year-old was recently credited as Maddox Jolie—rather than Maddox Jolie-Pitt—while working as an assistant director on Angelina Jolie’s latest film, Couture. The drama, which stars Jolie, premiered in French theaters on February 18.
This marks a notable shift. In 2024, Maddox was credited as Maddox Jolie-Pitt on his mother’s Netflix film Maria. His updated credit follows a similar pattern seen among several of his siblings.
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt share six children: Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, and twins Knox and Vivienne. In recent years, multiple children have opted to use “Jolie” publicly.
Vivienne was listed as Vivienne Jolie in the Playbill for the Broadway production of The Outsiders, which her mother helped produce. Zahara has also introduced herself publicly using the surname Jolie. Shiloh, who turned 18 in 2024, legally changed her name to Shiloh Jolie.
The surname changes come amid ongoing legal disputes between Pitt and Jolie, whose divorce proceedings and related court battles have stretched on for years.
Neither Pitt nor Jolie has publicly commented on Maddox’s latest credit change.
