Pamela Anderson is looking back at her Baywatch fame—and admitting it came at a painful cost.

The 58-year-old actress, now earning praise for her recent film roles, says she felt “minimized” and “exploited” during the height of her early career. Reflecting on her Playboy shoots and red-hot Baywatch years, Anderson confessed she eventually “kind of gave up” as she struggled with how she was perceived and treated.

“I’m not blameless here,” she said in a recent interview. “I was complicit because at some point—especially at the beginning of my career and in my relationships—it was just exploitation.” Anderson described feeling reduced to an image rather than recognized for her depth. “It was like, ‘Yeah, you little girl, this is how it’s done.’ I felt minimized.”

Now, decades and five marriages later, Anderson is choosing a different path. With acclaimed performances in The Last Showgirl and the reboot of The Naked Gun, she’s focused on reinvention rather than romance. She says she’s no longer actively seeking a relationship, preferring personal growth and independence. “I just want to unleash the dragon,” she explained, embracing solitude as strength.

Looking back, Anderson says it took years to shed the identity imposed on her during her early fame. “I was just going with the flow, trying to keep the lights on,” she reflected. But today, she’s reclaiming her narrative—on her own terms.
