Ioan Gruffudd’s explosive legal battle with ex-wife Alice Evans is now playing out in court—and the accusations are as dramatic as they are disturbing.
As the nine-day trial began in Los Angeles, the Fantastic Four star testified that Evans allegedly threatened to “Amber Heard” his life and career. According to Gruffudd, she warned she would publicly brand him a child abuser, pedophile, and drug addict in an effort to destroy his reputation. The 52-year-old actor, who is seeking to extend a restraining order against Evans, said the alleged threats left him “terrified” about the impact on both his career and his relationship with his daughters.
Taking the stand in a navy suit, Gruffudd described what he called a campaign of harassment, including social media posts that painted him in a damaging light. “It was devastating for me as a father to have that kind of false narrative out there,” he told the court. He also claimed Evans threatened to falsely accuse his current wife, Bianca Wallace, of wrongdoing in order to have her deported. In one alleged exchange, Gruffudd said Evans vowed to “dedicate her life to fighting” him.
The actor further testified that during a tense exchange while dropping off their children, Evans allegedly said she would destroy him and explicitly referenced the high-profile Amber Heard–Johnny Depp case. He also claimed she sent him a video containing threats of physical violence and even hired a private investigator to follow Wallace.
Gruffudd and Evans met on the set of 102 Dalmatians in 2000 and married in 2007, sharing two daughters before their split in 2021. According to Gruffudd, attempts to reach a financial settlement failed because Evans refused to negotiate, insisting instead on selling their home to fund her legal fight. “She told me, ‘There’s no going back now,’” he testified, adding that he felt scared about how the dispute could affect his ability to provide for his children.
Evans has denied the allegations and is asking the court to reject Gruffudd’s request for a new restraining order. She has publicly discussed financial difficulties and is seeking increased monthly payments—currently $1,500 in spousal support and $3,000 in child support. Meanwhile, Gruffudd is pushing to terminate spousal support altogether, claiming he has already overpaid by $400,000.
With settlement talks reportedly collapsing at the last minute, the courtroom showdown is shaping up to be one of Hollywood’s most contentious post-divorce battles in recent memory.
