Country singer Conner Smith will not face charges in connection with the June 2025 car accident that resulted in the death of 77-year-old Dorothy Dobbins.

On February 19, Smith’s attorney, Worrick G. Robinson IV, confirmed that the misdemeanor citation against the 25-year-old artist has been officially withdrawn. According to reports from TMZ and WZTV, the Davidson County District Attorney’s Office dropped the charge at the request of Dobbins’ family. PEOPLE has reached out to the DA’s office for additional comment.

The fatal incident occurred on June 8, 2025, when Dobbins was struck by Smith’s Chevrolet Silverado while crossing a street in Nashville. She later died at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Police previously stated that the preliminary investigation indicated Smith failed to yield the right of way. Authorities also noted there were no signs of impairment.

In a statement, Robinson described the crash as a “profound tragedy” for Dobbins’ family and the Germantown community. He said Smith has since met with the family to personally express his sorrow. While grateful the legal matter has concluded, Robinson added that Smith will continue to keep the Dobbins family in his prayers. Smith previously addressed the incident on social media, writing that he was “heartbroken in a way I’ve never experienced before” and that he continues to mourn and pray for the victim and her loved ones.
