The FBI has doubled the reward in the search for Nancy Guthrie as the investigation into her disappearance intensifies.
Nancy Guthrie, the mother of TODAY show host Savannah Guthrie, was last seen on the evening of January 31 after being dropped off at her home. When she could not be reached the following day, she was reported missing around noon, prompting a growing federal investigation.
This week, the FBI announced it has increased the reward from $50,000 to $100,000 for information leading to her location or to the arrest and conviction of those responsible. Authorities also released new details about a masked individual captured on security footage at her front door the night she vanished.
According to the FBI, the suspect is described as a male between 5 feet 9 inches and 5 feet 10 inches tall with an average build. In the footage, he is seen carrying a black 25-liter Ozark Trail Hiker Pack backpack.
Investigators briefly detained a person of interest earlier this week but later released him. Carlos Palazuelos, a delivery driver who was stopped near his home south of Tucson, told reporters he had been questioned about whether he had delivered a package to Guthrie’s residence and about his whereabouts that night. He denied any involvement and said he hopes authorities find the real suspect.
The FBI has urged anyone with information to contact 1-800-CALL-FBI or submit a tip through the bureau’s website.
Savannah Guthrie shared an emotional message on Instagram alongside a video of her mother, writing that the family will never give up hope and thanking supporters for their prayers.
As the search continues, authorities say they are pursuing all leads and asking the public to remain vigilant.
