Jennie Garth is officially throwing her name into one of Hollywood’s most coveted TV universes. The Beverly Hills, 90210 alum recently revealed that she auditioned for a role on HBO’s smash-hit series The White Lotus—and losing out on the part still stings.

Garth shared the admission on her I Choose Me podcast, saying she tried out for the show’s Thailand-set third season but ultimately didn’t land the role. While she declined to name the specific character, she admitted the missed opportunity was a tough one to swallow, especially given the prestige of the series and the dreamlike filming location.

The White Lotus has become one of TV’s biggest cultural phenomena, known for its sharp social satire, dark humor, and buzzy ensemble casts. The Thailand season featured a lineup of eccentric, tension-filled characters that many fans now believe would have suited Garth perfectly. She openly acknowledged her disappointment, saying the chance to film overseas on such a critically acclaimed show made the rejection particularly painful.

Garth isn’t the only familiar face who’s come close to joining the White Lotus universe. Grey’s Anatomy star Jessica Capshaw previously revealed she auditioned for a major role in Season 3, while country singer Kelsea Ballerini once tried out for a part in Season 2 before it went to Haley Lu Richardson. As the show’s reputation has grown, so has the list of stars eager to check into its fictional luxury resorts.

Looking ahead, anticipation is already sky-high for Season 4, which is set to take place in Saint-Tropez, France. HBO has confirmed an all-new cast that includes Chris Messina, Helena Bonham Carter, Steve Coogan, AJ Michalka, Alexander Ludwig, Marissa Long, and Caleb Jonte Edwards, signaling another glamorous—and likely scandal-filled—chapter.

For Garth, the door may not be completely closed. With The White Lotus reinventing itself every season, fans are already speculating whether she could resurface in a future installment. Until then, her near-miss serves as a reminder of just how competitive—and desirable—a role on the series has become.
