Sophie Turner is setting the record straight—and it’s not what fans expected. The Game of Thrones alum, who’s been at the center of months of dating rumors with Coldplay’s Chris Martin, has finally opened up about where things really stand between them. Spoiler: she’s very much single.
In a candid new interview with Porter magazine, Turner took on the relentless gossip that’s followed her since her split from ex-husband Joe Jonas. Reports had linked her to British aristocrat Peregrine Pearson and later to Martin—rumors that flared up after The Daily Mail claimed the two were spotted on a “secret date” sometime last fall. Us Weekly even added fuel to the fire, claiming the pair had “explored their chemistry” and that there was definitely a “spark.”
But Turner made it clear she’s flying solo going into 2024. “People take so much as fact these days,” she told Porter, describing how frustrating it is to watch her private life turned into tabloid fodder. “You feel like you’re gagged because silence is always the way to let something die out. But it means you can’t stand up for yourself.”
She also revealed how the nonstop speculation even blindsides her family. “I get calls from my mum going, ‘Oh my God, darling, I didn’t know this happened,’” Turner said. “And I’m like, ‘It might have happened, but I wasn’t ready to tell you, let alone the world.’”
As for her romantic life, the Dark Phoenix actress admitted she hasn’t had time—or energy—to date. “I haven’t seen my friends or gone on a date in weeks, months,” she confessed. “I only have the capacity for work and family right now. But I’m working on it.”
For now, Sophie Turner is focused on herself, proving that sometimes the best relationship status update is simply: unbothered and thriving.
