Hollywood couple Raven-Symoné and Miranda Maday are getting real about the highs, lows, and hate they’ve faced in their marriage. In a rare, candid interview, the pair revealed intimate details about their relationship—including a brief breakup before tying the knot and the relentless public scrutiny they’ve endured as an interracial couple.

Appearing on the December 1 episode of Wide Open With Ashlyn Harris, the Raven’s Home star and her wife confronted rumors and misconceptions head-on. Maday shared that Raven once broke off their relationship prior to their 2020 wedding, partly due to her own fears around interracial dating.

“The reaction to our marriage was surprising,” Maday admitted. “Raven had warned me it might be difficult. I later learned she had struggled with the idea of being with a White person, which saddened me as I couldn’t have known or changed that.”

Maday said she’s been shocked by the negativity aimed at her simply for being married to a Black celebrity. “We’ve faced all kinds of accusations—people calling me Raven’s ‘handler,’ or claiming I’m ‘whitewashing’ or a ‘gold digger,’” she said. “That’s why we started our YouTube channel—to show representation for couples like us.”

Raven-Symoné, who rose to fame as a child star on Disney’s That’s So Raven, chimed in about how she’s learned to handle online hate. “It’s a new approach for us,” she explained. “Miranda used to want me to clap back, but I’ve learned it’s best to disengage. Still, when Miranda started getting death threats, that crossed a line.”

Maday revealed those threats began after a harmless exchange with actress Keke Palmer, who asked whether she’d watched That’s So Raven growing up. “I told her honestly I hadn’t, but had since watched and loved it,” Maday recalled.

Raven-Symoné said that one comment unleashed chaos online. “The internet exploded over that,” she said. “I’ve learned to separate my real life from online drama. What matters is our work and our success—not random comments.”

The couple also addressed false rumors and even AI-generated videos that spread fake stories about them. “That’s the nature of AI-generated content,” Raven said flatly. “Controversy drives engagement.”

Despite the chaos, the two remain focused on creating, growing, and blocking out the noise. For them, love—and laughter—still win out over hate.
