Marilyn Monroe’s death is once again under scrutiny as sensational claims emerge suggesting the Hollywood icon may have been murdered. Bestselling author James Patterson, seventy eight, explores the life and mysterious final days of the star in his newly released novel The Last Days of Marilyn Monroe: A True Crime Thriller, published on December 1.

Patterson argues that Monroe’s death may have been orchestrated due to her close relationships with powerful figures such as President John F Kennedy, Senator Robert F Kennedy, and entertainment titan Frank Sinatra.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Patterson admitted that he was unaware of many critical details surrounding Monroe’s death scene, noting that he had not been familiar with the questionable autopsy and with the detective who believed the scene had been altered.

He emphasized that while Monroe is widely known, public understanding of the true circumstances of her final hours is often superficial.

Monroe was found dead at her Los Angeles home in August 1962 at the age of thirty six. Early investigations concluded that she died from a barbiturate overdose, citing the presence of sedatives in her system and an empty pill bottle beside her bed.

However, lingering doubts fueled ongoing speculation for decades, eventually leading the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office to reopen the case in the 1980s. At the time, District Attorney John Van de Kamp told the Los Angeles Times that their findings indicated the death could have resulted from either suicide or an accidental overdose.
