K-pop stars are stepping up to aid relief efforts following a devastating fire in Hong Kong.

On Thursday, a massive blaze erupted at a high-rise apartment complex, resulting in significant loss of life and property. The tragedy was especially severe as over one-third of the building’s residents were aged 65 or older. Authorities have not yet determined the cause of the fire, but as news of the disaster spread, expressions of sympathy poured in from Hong Kong and around the world, with several K-pop artists taking active steps to help.

According to Chinese-language media, aespa donated 1 million CNY (about 150,000 USD) to a local relief organization. Chinese member Winter shared a message on social media, writing, “I hope everyone is safe,” accompanied by praying emojis to express her concern for those affected.

Hong Kong-born Jackson of GOT7 also used his social media platforms to share information about local shelters and resources for residents impacted by the fire. He announced that he would personally contribute 1 million HKD (roughly 128,000 USD) through his brand to support recovery efforts.

The upcoming 2025 MAMA music festival, scheduled in Hong Kong for Friday and Saturday, will also show support for those affected by the fire.

CJ ENM, the organizer of the 2025 MAMA Awards, released a statement on Thursday: “We extend our deepest condolences to all those affected by the fire in Hong Kong. The 2025 MAMA Awards will incorporate a Support Hong Kong message, providing a moment for reflection and tribute, and we will contribute through donations to aid the victims.”

Organizers emphasized that this year’s event will prioritize the healing and unifying power of music, focusing on comfort and hope rather than spectacle. As a mark of respect, the traditional red carpet ceremony has been canceled ahead of the awards show.
