SEVENTEEN revealed the selection process behind the title track of their fifth studio album HAPPY BURSTDAY in the third episode of their Disney Plus documentary SEVENTEEN OUR CHAPTER, released on the 21st.

The episode showed a key turning point when Woozi’s composition THUNDER emerged as a major contender, shifting member discussions that had initially centered on a track titled HBD.

Woozi explained that the song carried a narrative instantly recognizable as SEVENTEEN’s, adding that while he had confidence in its musicality, it was essential that the members could perform it with genuine excitement.

The group gravitated toward THUNDER, with Jun noting that it had a distinctive edge compared to Woozi’s previous work and Seungkwan describing it as a song that felt like unexplored territory for them.

Since its release, THUNDER has topped domestic charts, won eight music show trophies, and made significant strides internationally, appearing on Billboard’s Global 200 and Global Excluding U.S. charts, the UK Official Chart’s Single Downloads and Single Sales lists, and Billboard Japan’s Hot 100.

The documentary also showcased the creative process behind the album’s other tracks, with each member crafting solo songs inspired by personal experiences. Woozi emphasized his determination to continue evolving even ten years into their career, expressing a desire to show that SEVENTEEN remains a group that keeps fans anticipating what comes next.

The episode closed with heartfelt reflections on their fandom CARAT, as S.Coups described them as fellow travelers heading toward a shared destination, Joshua called them best friends who have grown together with the group, Seungkwan referred to them as saviors, and Vernon said they are everything. The documentary’s final episode will air on the 28th.

SEVENTEEN is also preparing for their world tour, beginning SEVENTEEN WORLD TOUR NEW IN JAPAN at Nagoya’s Vantelin Dome on the 27th, 29th, and 30th, continuing at Osaka’s Kyocera Dome on December 4th, 6th, and 7th, then Tokyo Dome on the 11th and 12th, before concluding at Fukuoka’s PayPay Dome on the 20th and 21st.
