YouTuber Wonji (real name Lee Wonji), who runs the channel Wonji’s Day, has issued an apology following criticism over his newly rented office.

On Thursday, Wonji uploaded a vlog titled “Looking for a 6-Pyeong Office” (approximately 216 square feet), showcasing his small workspace. The office, located on the second basement floor, houses three people working in a tight space, which drew criticism from viewers who expressed concern about poor working conditions.

In response, Wonji said, “When I first rented the office and started filling it with furniture and equipment, it ended up more crowded than I had expected. I wish I had chosen a bigger space from the beginning, but I didn’t anticipate this. I promise to make improvements moving forward.”

Following continued criticism, Wonji further addressed concerns about the basement location. He explained that the building features an open atrium stretching from the basement to the roof. “From the outside, the basement might seem cramped, and I understand why people might feel that way. But the atrium includes shared tables, chairs, and even a small café, making it a good space for meetings. While winters can be cold, having a quiet outdoor area made the basement office feel more open,” he said.

Despite this explanation, the backlash persisted, prompting Wonji to release another statement and make the video private. “I sincerely apologize for any discomfort caused regarding our office environment. The video alone didn’t fully convey the building’s ventilation system or overall layout, so it may have been interpreted differently from reality. I also recognize this could have caused misunderstandings for others in the building, so I decided to make the video private,” he said.

Wonji added, “This is my first office, and I know there are areas where I’m inexperienced. I will actively consider all feedback, address shortcomings, and work hard to show growth and improvement in the future.”

Some subscribers remain critical, saying, “It’s disappointing that such a cramped working environment was made into content and monetized.”

Wonji is a travel YouTuber with over 1.02 million subscribers and a decade of experience, making him one of South Korea’s well-known content creators.
