A man in his 30s has been taken into custody for breaking into the home of Nana, born Im Jin Ah, a former After School member who is now an actress, in what authorities described as an attempted robbery turned violent.

According to the Guri Police Department on the 17th, the Uijeongbu District Court in Namyangju issued an arrest warrant for the suspect, identified only as A, citing a risk of flight. The charges were elevated from attempted robbery to aggravated robbery and assault after investigators received medical documentation confirming injuries sustained by Nana’s mother.

The incident unfolded on the morning of the 15th when the suspect allegedly entered Nana’s home armed with a weapon, threatening both Nana and her mother while demanding money. Police reported that he used a ladder he had prepared in advance to reach the veranda, entered through an unlocked door, and subsequently injured her mother during the confrontation. Nana and her mother managed to overpower the intruder before notifying authorities.

During questioning, the suspect claimed he did not know the home belonged to a public figure and cited financial hardship as his motive. On the same day, Nana’s agency Sublime confirmed the armed break-in, stating that the intruder created a life-threatening situation for both Nana and her mother and that they are currently receiving medical care and need complete rest.

ADOR, the management company behind NewJeans, announced on the 17th through the global fan platform Weverse that it is intensifying efforts to protect the group’s rights amid a surge of malicious online activity.

The agency reported a sharp rise in false information, privacy violations, and abusive language directed at NewJeans and confirmed that it plans to file criminal charges this month against individuals posting harmful content on platforms including Naver News, DC Inside, and TheQoo.

ADOR also addressed ongoing deepfake crimes, noting that although perpetrators attempted to negotiate, the company rejected all proposals and notified law enforcement of its intention to seek maximum penalties while continuing to cooperate closely with authorities.

This legal action comes shortly after the resolution of a year-long contract dispute, during which all five NewJeans members agreed to return to ADOR. Haerin and Hyein formalized their return following direct discussions with the agency, while Minji, Danielle, and Hani conveyed their decision through legal representatives, and ADOR has not yet issued an official confirmation regarding their status.
