Singer Sung Si Kyung has broken his silence following reports that he suffered financial losses due to his longtime manager’s actions over the past ten years.
On Monday, the balladeer took to Instagram to share how deeply the situation has affected him. He revealed that the past few months have been extremely painful, describing the experience as a heartbreaking betrayal of trust by someone he had considered family. Though it wasn’t the first time he had faced such a situation in his 25-year career, he admitted that the pain only grows harder to bear with age.
Sung said he had tried to maintain a sense of normalcy, continuing to create YouTube content and perform live. Still, the emotional strain eventually began to take its toll on his body, mind, and voice.
Addressing the delay in announcing his year-end concert, the singer admitted he had been torn about whether he could—or even should—go through with it under the circumstances. He said he hoped to reach a place where he could honestly say he was okay, both mentally and physically.
Regarding the year-end concert, Sung shared that he plans to make a final decision and announcement by the end of the week. He added that, as with past challenges, this moment too would eventually pass and expressed gratitude that the issue had surfaced before it could cause even greater damage.
Earlier that day, local media reported that Sung had recently cut ties with his longtime manager, resulting in substantial financial losses linked to work-related misconduct. While the exact amount remains undisclosed, multiple outlets suggested that the sum was significant.
In response, Sung’s agency, SK Jae-won, confirmed the reports and issued an official statement. The company stated that the former manager had violated the firm’s trust during their employment, and an internal investigation had revealed the seriousness of the matter. The employee has since resigned. The agency added that it is now assessing the extent of the financial damage and will be overhauling its internal management systems to prevent similar incidents in the future.
