Pop star Britney Spears is once again under the spotlight after her ex-husband, Kevin Federline, made shocking claims in his newly released memoir, You Thought You Knew.
According to People, the former dancer describes multiple unsettling episodes from their marriage, including alleged incidents involving knives. Federline recalls moments when their sons awoke in the middle of the night to find Spears silently standing in their doorway. She would whisper, “Are you awake?” while holding a knife—then walk away without explanation.
Federline writes that he still worries about Spears’ mental well-being, suggesting that she’s “heading toward an irreversible point” and “can’t keep pretending everything’s fine.” He warns that unless something changes, “something terrible will happen,” voicing fears for their two sons.
A spokesperson for Spears swiftly dismissed the allegations, saying her children remain her top priority. “Kevin and others are clearly trying to profit off Britney again,” the rep said, suggesting the timing of the memoir’s release—right after child-support payments ended—was no coincidence. The statement also noted that Spears has already told her side of the story in her own memoir.
Spears and Federline were married from 2004 to 2007 and share two sons, Sean Preston (20) and Jayden James (19). Their split led to a long, highly publicized custody battle.
The singer’s relationship with her sons reportedly remains tense. In a 2022 interview with the Daily Mail, Jayden said he believed reconciliation was possible, but only if his mother’s mental health improved: “If she gets better, I definitely want to see her again.”
