A woman’s story about her boyfriend pressuring her to undergo pelvic fat grafting surgery has sparked debate after it aired on KBS Joy’s official YouTube channel.
The episode, titled “My Boyfriend Is Forcing Me to Get Pelvic Surgery,” premiered on October 15 and quickly drew attention from viewers for its disturbing premise.
According to the woman, who stands 164 centimeters (about 5 feet 4 inches) tall and weighs around 42 kilograms (93 pounds), she has always been frail and easily injured. To improve her health, she recently joined a gym—where she met the man who would later become her boyfriend. Initially, he helped her adjust her form and weights, and the two eventually grew close, starting a relationship after two months of working out together.
However, his behavior began to change soon after. Without consulting her, he booked a body profile photoshoot and started giving unsolicited feedback during intimate moments, barking commands like “Straighten your back!” and “Engage your shoulder blades!” He even ran to a nearby convenience store to buy six boiled eggs during a restaurant date, claiming their meal lacked enough protein.
The situation escalated when the woman suggested attending a summer water festival. Her boyfriend agreed—on one condition. He told her that while her figure was great, her hips needed “improvement,” and recommended pelvic fat grafting surgery to “perfect her body.” He even showed her edited photos illustrating his “ideal version” of her and insisted that the procedure would benefit her. “Who says only models should have perfect bodies?” he argued, adding that even if they broke up, she would still have “a flawless figure.”
Disturbed by his insistence, the woman pushed back, saying she was satisfied with her body and didn’t see any reason to change. “I’m just an ordinary office worker, not a model,” she said.
Comedian Han Yoon Seo, who appeared on the show, commented that the boyfriend’s behavior amounted to coercion. “The real problem here is the pressure,” Han said. “She’s perfectly healthy, and his constant imposition is wrong. Even if it came from a parent, it would still be unacceptable.” Han added, “If she gives in once, what will he demand next? She deserves someone who loves her just as she is.”
