Kim Jae Joong, who recently made headlines as the first idol to become a grandfather after his niece and her husband announced they were expecting, has revealed his own thoughts on starting a family.
The latest episode of KBS2’s Stars’ Top Recipe at Fun-Staurant, which aired on Friday, featured Kim Jae Joong, the youngest of nine siblings, as he prepared a fun-filled summer celebration for his large family.
Kim Jae Joong set up a spacious outdoor pool in his family’s backyard, where five of his thirteen nieces and nephews eagerly jumped in and splashed around together.

During the event, Kim Jae Joong’s second-oldest sister playfully asked about his plans for having children. As he watched the kids playing in the pool, Kim Jae Joong surprised everyone by saying, “Five kids seem just right.” His parents, ever the loving critics, couldn’t resist teasing him. His father quipped, “At your age? You need to settle down first.” His mother jokingly added, “Get married before you start talking about kids!” sparking laughter all around.
The fun continued when Kim Jae Joong introduced a family game involving money. He brought out stacks of Korean bills in various denominations: 1,000 KRW (0.73 USD), 5,000 KRW (3.63 USD), 10,000 KRW (7.25 USD), and 50,000 KRW (37.50 USD). In a heartwarming gesture, Kim Jae Joong’s father later shared his winnings with his children and even his young grandchildren, creating a touching family moment.

As the episode progressed, Kim Jae Joong also showcased his impressive cooking skills with a few must-try summer dishes. Known for his love of spicy seafood noodles, he introduced a unique fusion dish: Spicy Seafood Rib Stew, blending the bold flavors of spicy seafood noodles with tender ribs. Lee Yeon Bok was so impressed that he exclaimed, “What a great idea! You truly are a genius, Jae Joong.”
Additionally, Kim Jae Joong shared a quick and easy recipe for a cold beef soup using thinly sliced brisket instead of the traditional raw fish. The five-minute dish was a perfect summer refresher and a hit with the family.
