The South Korean entertainment industry is mourning the sudden loss of actress Lee Seo Yi, who passed away at the age of 43.
On Tuesday, Lee Seo Yi’s manager shared the heartbreaking news in a statement: “Our radiant, beautiful, and kind-hearted sister became a star in heaven on June 20, 2025. While this may come as a shock to many, please keep her in your thoughts as she journeys to a better place.”
The announcement has left fans and fellow actors stunned. Choi Deok Moon responded in disbelief, writing, “What? How is this possible?” Park Ho San quietly paid tribute by acknowledging the post.
One close friend reflected on their grief, saying, “I was in denial when I first heard the news. When reality set in, I felt numb. I’ll always remember her spontaneous calls, our laughter-filled dinners, and those long, late-night chats. She’s left an unforgettable mark on my life.”
Another acquaintance added, “She lived with sincerity and gave her all to everything she did. I hope she’s finally at peace, free from all hardship.”
Fans and colleagues have continued to express their condolences on social media, sharing messages such as “I hope she’s in a better place,” “Rest peacefully,” and “She was always so full of light, how could something like this happen?”
Lee Seo Yi began her acting career in 2014 with the television drama Cheongdam-dong Scandal and went on to appear in several well-known Korean films, including The Royal Tailor, The King, How to Live in This World, and Killing Romance.
In addition to her work on screen, Lee Seo Yi was also an accomplished florist. Her death, which came just before she was due to relocate her flower shop, has only deepened the sorrow felt by those who knew and admired her.
